How Lucky Are We?!! Meet Blair <3

We are so excited to welcome Blair Gilkyson back to Chlotique as the manager of our Vermillion location! There are so many things that we admire about Blair and we know that you will love her as much as we do. We feel blessed that she is now a part of our full time team and she will be using her education and expertise to help move our brand forward!   Her sense of style and her outgoing and fun personality make her great with our customers and her attention to detail and knowledge of the industry make her perfect as a manager.  We are truly blessed to have her here and could not be more thrilled!  Stop in to Chlotique to say "Hi" to Blair and let her help you find that perfect outfit.  Many of you know Blair first hand, but for those of you near and far that do not know her, here is a bit more information for you!

1) Can you tell me a little bit about your background?  For example, your family, where you grew up etc.

I was born and raised in Vermillion by my two loving parents, Kim and Kelly. I have two older sisters, a younger brother, three amazing, handsome nephews and a newborn niece. I attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (GBR!) as a Fashion Merchandising and Business student and ended up graduating a year early (what was I thinking?, I know). Although I now realize how great of a town Vermillion was to grow up in, I never thought I would have a reason to move back. But I never anticipated finding a job I loved here either. Now I joke that I'm living my "fourth year of college" at USD with all my girlfriends who go here.

OMG the sweetest!!!!

2) What are you favorite hobbies or things to do when not at work?

I have always had a passion for sports and staying active. Running is one of my favorite pastimes. I actually hope to run my first marathon in May! I also enjoy spending time with my nephews and niece whenever I can. They call me Auntie B and hold such a special place in my heart. Reading, watching E!news, searching endlessly on Pinterest, cheering on the Huskers and catching up with friends occupies a lot of my free time as well.

3) What was your experience like at UNL and how has your education helped you to transition into the working world?

I absolutely loved UNL and would not have traded that experience for the world. If anything, I would tell my ambitious freshman self to slow down and take all four years to graduate. I was fortunate enough to belong to a sorority (Delta Gamma), multiple campus organizations and clubs, a fashion magazine and I got to travel abroad. The Fashion Merchandising program prepared me so well for the workplace. The experiences I had, along with the knowledge my professors shared helped give me the confidence I needed when applying for my first "big girl" job. This being true, I still believe there was no way to be fully prepared. I have learned so much, and will continue to learn so much, since starting at Chlotique.

4) Can you describe your style?

Oh boy, this is a tough one. My style has many times been described to me as "homeless chic." I never knew quite how to take that, but I think I understand it a bit. I love street style and a lot of times that involves me mixing pieces one wouldn't necessarily think should go together. Experimenting is one of my favorite things to do. And of course with that, there is always some trial and error. I just love to wear whatever I'm comfortable in and makes me feel good. Baggy sweaters or plaid shirts, ripped boyfriend jeans and sneakers seem to be my go-to right now.

"I would wear this outfit once a week because I loved it so much!"

Blair's street chic sense of style is one of the many things we admire about her.

5) What do you look forward to, or hope to accomplish with Chlotique as the store manager?

I know holding the position as store manager is going to be a learning experience for me. It is my first official full-time job so that right there will be an adjustment. But I could not ask for better people to work with than Tamie and Chloe. I also know that the store manager position has endless duties. And I think that's what I'm looking forward to the most. Day to day will be different and always fast paced, keeping me on my toes. I hope to take some pressure off Tamie and Chloe and help allow the business to enter new opportunities.
